6- and 7-Series Approved Media Price Comparison

Keeping track of "approved media" for all Sound Devices recorders can be a chore. I've compiled the list below for 6- and 7-Series recorders that will be kept current for any changes or additions. Prices will fluctuate on a daily basis, but these are current as of 2.20.16. Keep in mind that labels and other slight variations will change, so don't fret over any small changes down the line. The picture of the card will take you directly to the product listing on Amazon.

One thing that I noticed was that the SanDisk Extreme 90MB/s cards are no longer manufactured. They've since been replaced with the Extreme Pro 90MB/s model which has not been added to the official approved media list as of yet, so I didn't link them. Also, take note of the peculiar Delkin Devices Serial Number compatibility issue.

§  Cards are compatible with the 788T
±  Cards are compatible with the 970 (missing one or two cards exclusive to the 970)

* Note 1: Sound Devices and Delkin have worked closely together with regards to testing CF model 700x cards. Delkin has confirmed that cards containing VQ in the serial number are not compatible, but cards ending with VU in the serial number are compatible, and are therefore approved.

 * Note 2: Sound Devices has worked directly with Delkin to identify an intermittent Media I/O issue with newer Delkin CF 500x and CF 700x cards. Delkin has confirmed that a recent change to these two cards is most likely responsible for the errors. Cards containing KZ in the serial number are susceptible to this issue and should not be used. Cards containing VB in the serial number will function correctly and are approved. Delkin CF 1000x and 1050x cards do not experience this issue and may continue to be used.
